The broadband terminology project was started in early 2011 by the initiative of the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (Ficora). The purpose of the project is to compile a vocabulary of the central concepts related to broadband, such as broadband connections and services. The vocabulary will include approximately sixty concepts and their definitions and term recommendations in Finnish as well as equivalents in Swedish and English.
The work with the broadband vocabulary has been conducted from the beginning of 2011 as a part of the Finnish Terminology Centre's long-term IT terminology project. During the latter part of the year it will continue as a separate project funded by Elisa, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, TeliaSonera and Ficora. The vocabulary is targeted at consumers and is intended to be finished in late 2011.
