The Finnish Terminology Centre offers information on and expert services related to terminology work, classification work, ontology work and concept modelling work for various target groups. Both private persons and legally competent corporations can become members of the Terminology Centre. Membership is worthwhile if you are interested in efficient structuring and processing of information based on concept analysis, clarifying communication and facilitating the semantic interoperability of information systems.
If you are interested in becoming member of the Terminology Centre, please fill in the application form (in Finnish or Swedish). The Terminology Centre's board of directors decides on membership admission on the basis of the application. The membership is valid until the member itself asks for resignation. A member can also be expelled, for example, on the grounds of neglected membership fees.

Term service is provided by e-mail. Questions concerning, for example, term equivalents, abbreviations and definitions of concepts can be sent to the address termipalvelu@tsk.fi. Background information, e.g. the context, meaning and subject field of the term in question helps in getting a reliable answer. Although individual members do not have a term service quota, we do try to help all our clients in their terminology problems, if possible.
The membership fees are determined by the membership category and the turnover or budget of the member organisation. The membership fees are the following:
Membership category | Membership fee | Term service quota |
private persons | EUR 50 | No term service |
non-profit corporations | EUR 160 | 10 answers/year |
turnover less than EUR 1 million | EUR 160 | 10 answers/year |
turnover EUR 1—10 millions | EUR 350 | 20 answers/year |
turnover more than EUR 10 but less than EUR 100 millions | EUR 700 | 40 answers/year |
turnover more than EUR 100 millions | EUR 1100 | 60 answers/year |
