The primary target group for the services of the Finnish Terminology Centre TSK are the Finnish business life and public administration, but many services are available to private persons, too.

The Terminology Centre's services are used mostly by translators and other language professionals. However, the services are meant for all subject field experts regardless of their job description, since there is no subject field where good special language and terminology skills wouldn't matter.

The Terminology Centre develops its services and makes them available mostly in the form of separately financed projects. However, the work of the Terminology Centre always serves the public good.

The following organizations, for example, have participated in the Terminology Centre's different projects:

  • authorities like the Finnish Food Safety Authority Evira, the Social Insurance Institution of Finland (Kela) and Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (FICORA)
  • organizations from such special fields like land survey, banking, fire and rescue, social welfare and health care, telecommunications and information technology, safety and health at work as well as environment
  • private sector corporations from building and telecommunications fields
  • software corporations like Kielikone and Tekla
  • standardization organizations (SESKO, SFS, ISO/TC 37)
  • terminology centres in the Nordic countries and elesewhere in Europe
  • the Ministry of Education and Culture (TEPA term bank)
  • language planning organizations like the Institute for the Languages of Finland
  • education and research organizations like the University of Helsinki (courses in terminology work) and the Helsinki University of Technology (National Semantic Web Ontology FinnONTO and Semantic Web 2.0 research projects)
