EAFT summit in Luxembourg 14 & 15 November 2016

EAFT (European Association for Terminology) and Terminology Coordination Unit of the European Parliament, TermCoord, are organizing the Eight European Terminology Summit in Luxembourg on 14–15 November 2016. EAFT will also celebrate its 20th anniversary on the occasion of the Summit.

Updating Tekla Structures glossary

In autumn 2016 the Finnish Terminology Centre TSK started a terminology project to complement and update Trimble's Tekla Structures glossary, a glossary on building modelling software. The glossary gives English term recommendations and definitions for the central concepts of the software.

Extended version of the MAO/TAO Ontology published in Finto

In late 2015, Finland's National Board of Antiquties and the Finnish Terminology Centre started a project for extending the MAO/TAO – Ontology for Museum Domain and Applied Arts. The extended ontology was published in the ontology and thesaurus service maintained by the National Library of Finland, the Finto service.

Terminfo in English and Scandinavian languages

Finnish Terminology Centre publishes online magazine Terminfo, which is meant for everyone interested in terminology and special languages. Terminfo is available free of charge for all readers and the articles deal with e.g. terminology work both in Finland and abroad, Finnish Terminology Centre's projects and study of terminology.

Terminology Summer School in Vienna 11–15 July 2016

The International Terminology Summer School (TSS 2016), organized by TermNet (the International Network for Terminology), will take place in Vienna, 11–15 July 2016.

TSS is a 5-day training course on terminology management intended for professionals, students and scholars. The programme is available online at http://www.termnet.org/english/events/tss_2016/programme.php and registering is open until the beginning of June.

TKE 2016 conference in Copenhagen in June - registration open

The 12th international conference on Terminology and Knowledge Engineering, TKE 2016, will be held in Copenhagen from 22–24 June 2016. The theme of the conference will be term bases and linguistic linked open data.

The conference will be held in the Copenhagen Business School (CBS) and it is organised by the Association for Terminology and Knowledge Transfer (GTW) together with the Department of International Business Communication in CBS.

New user interface for Terminfo

The new user interface for Terminfo has been published at http://www.terminfo.fi/.

All readers have now access to Terminfo's archives (from issue 1/2010 onwards); you can scroll through the archives on interleaf "Arkisto". It is also possible to use the search box on the first page (right hand side, under "Hae sivustolta") to search with a specific word or name.
