Terminology project on the classification of social welfare services and client documents

The National Institute for Health and Welfare has commissioned terminology work from the Finnish Terminology Centre TSK to support the preparation of the classification of social welfare services. Because the classification is made for the first time in Finland, it is important to recognise and define the central concepts and give them term recommendations.

The classification of social welfare services is a part of the Development Project for ICT in Social Welfare. More information in www.tikesos.fi (in Finnish).

The project started in March 2009, and the first version was ready in the spring 2010. The terminology work continued in the autumn 2011 by defining different social services. The aim is to publish the Vocabulary for the classification of social welfare services in the autumn 2011.

In addition, a smaller vocabulary related to the client document classification in social welfare has been compiled. It contains 25 concepts, and it should be ready in the spring 2011.

Both vocabularies have terms and definitions in Finnish.
